Just one of those months which zipped along . . . there was the Super Bowl party at Joann's (great crowd, food and weather. A quick trip to Laughlin Nevada where we stayed at the Riverside Casino the 11th to the 13th  . .  just to get out of town for a few days.

On the 14th, Valentine's Day, there was dinner at one of our favorite restaurants, Charleston's, in Scottsdale  . . .  mmmm . . . filet mignon . . .  mmmm.

The patient continues to progress nicely  . . . no pain, no gimp! John and Bob Mummey have done a couple of hikes in the desert, most recently at Spur Cross in Cave Creek Regional Park and the McDowell Sonoran Preserve in North Scottsdale. Here are a few pics - click on a thumbnail to enlarge:

After a very busy June, we took a break this month and laid back in the cactus, so to speak. Later in the month we enjoyed a short visit from Jessica.

Several things in August  . . . John decided to acquire two Amazon "Alexa" devices and install a number of wifi controlled light switches in the house. Now we just need to say "Alexa" (or "Echo" for the one in the master bedroom) to wake them up and get the news, music, weather, etc. as well as many other interesting cloud-based information databases . .  as well as voice-control the house lights - or put them on a schedule for when we are away. Fun fun fun.

Mid-month we enjoyed a short visit from John's PHS '62 classmate, Gail Rice, who lives in Baltimore and was in Scottsdale for an insurance industry conference.

Oh, and there was that 72nd birthday for John on the 24th!

We celebrated our 47th anniversary with a five day trip to San Diego. We visited several favorite haunts such as Ferry Landing, Seaport Village and the Hotel Del Coronado, but added a trip to Encinitas and the San Diego Botanic Garden.

A quick catch-up since I neglected the site for 3 months. My bad!

Can't forget Barb's birthday on the 1st  . . . a BIG one  . . . the big 7-0. Happy Birthday, Barb.

Another shoulder/rotator cuff repair for John  . . . always looking forward to that . . . NOT!

Happy Birthday to Jessica on Halloween!

John flew back to Providence, Rhode Island to participate in a Veteran's Day screening of the documentary "My Father's Vietnam" in which he appears.

John & Barb spent Thanksgiving Day at Bob & Bonnie Mummey's home in Cave Creek  . . . dinner  . . . YUM!

On the 16th John & Barb enjoyed the Christmas show at the Celebrity Theater with the Brian Setzer Orchestra. Great music  . . .  fun time!

Both Jessica and Rachael (with Andy) were here for Christmas and Bob and Bonnie Mummey joined us here in Corte Bella for Christmas Day and dinner.
